Rejection Letter for “Magical Compositions “

And here’s the next letter in a series of rejection letters.

To Ms. May,

I regret to inform you that the manuscript for “Magical Compositions” is unsuitable for publication. It’s not that I don’t like the story, which I don’t, it’s just that the subject matter is a bit too mature for the immature adults who might pick up your work.

I know that having a group of girls in a rock band is great, but there is no “girl empowerment” going on. There’s no calls to topple the male sex, nor is there a plot to force all girls to reject boys and marriage in the name of independence.

But I know you might not want to hear that, so I’m sending you this manuscript back and ask you to write a more decent story that illustrates why feminism is good.

Feminism is good? Girl empowerment? Give me a break! That’s not what girl bands are for! The girls in the band are trying to prove that they can rock just as well as the boys, if not better. Besides, forcing people to choose independence and reject marriage is just as bad.

I’m sure someone will have something to say about this.
