The Dangers of Nostalgia

So you want to go back to the days when you were a kid, when life was good all the time.

Don’t. Just don’t. Life wasn’t good when you were a kid.

Don’t believe me? Here’s what happened to me when I got nostalgic for the past:

When I started thinking about the past, I grew to hate myself for what I had become. I stopped interacting with my family and shut myself away in my room, where I spent hours daydreaming about the past and how I wished I could have done things differently. I could have been a better person than what I was currently becoming. As a result, I began to suffer from a depression that I’m still dealing with.

So there you have it. Nostalgia is a cruel thing that eats up your mind until you find yourself wanting to go back to the past instead of going to the future.

Nostalgic memories are a poison. If you’re using it, STOP immediately and seek help. Your future will thank you.
