Viserys: Hello, everyone. I’m Viserys Targaryen, your great and awesome king. Today, I’m going to teach you how to create some Game of Thrones fanfiction. Fan fiction has recently been getting a bad rap for being little more than a medium for young girls and bad writing, but with my help, you’ll be able to write great fanfiction in just a fraction of the time it takes to write a very bad fanfiction story.
Step 1: (to Sansa, who is about to write) Don’t you dare write a GOD DAMNED THING!!! At least not yet. Instead, find some crappy Harry Potter story that you wrote years ago and never published. Just get rid of the magic, replace the characters with Game of Thrones characters, toss in some political intrigue, and voila! You got your own fantastic Game of Thrones fanfiction. Isn’t it great?
Sansa: Ok, now what do I do?
Viserys: Step 2: Go onto FanFiction.net and force…I mean…request that someone beta read your story because you’re too stupid…lazy…your story is so fricking awesome that they’ll want to do nothing more than to stop writing their own crappy story to edit your masterpiece. How wonderful!
Sansa: Uh, what exactly should I do next?
Viserys: Well, I say that we should go over some ground rules here. You see these things? (Points to lazy characterization, character shipping, and dumb writing) You won’t be needing those in your fanfiction! (Pulls out a gun and shoots objects in question)
Sansa: Why not?
Viserys: Because you don’t have time for no canon compliance! This is fanfiction, which means you can do whatever you want with your story. Upset about a certain event? It never happened! Hate a character? Kill them off! Wanna poke fun at something stupid in the story? You can, with a parody! Think that a character is too uptight? You can change that character around by having them do something that is completely out-of-character!
Sansa: But Viserys, what if I don’t want to write Game of Thrones fanfiction?
Viserys: What? No Game of Thrones fanfiction? Not a problem! You can write about any fanfiction that you want, but please make sure to avoid Harry Potter, as 99% of fanfiction about Harry Potter is utter crap.
Sansa: I agree. Harry Potter is a bad story and I can’t stand the amount of fanfiction centering on that story.
Viserys: Also, please take heed and avoid writing slash in your fanfiction. Slash fiction promotes homosexuality and I think that that’s pretty icky.
Renly: You stupid homophobic jerkface! I will rip you apart!
Sansa: Uh, the only thing that you will be ripping off will be Loras‘s shirt! (Everyone laughs as Renly storms off in anger)
Viserys: Anyway, now get out there and start plagiarizing…uh, I mean…creating those fanfictions!
Disclaimer: We are not responsible for the results of your fanfiction, as those results are ultimately the responsibility of your own actions. We also do not advocate writing certain stories for some very good reasons.
