Yesterday, I began chapter 2 of the story Janette Lennox and so far, I have set up the scene where Janette eventually leaves the church and goes to Gamaris Academy of Alchemy & Magic.
This time, Janette hides in her room and incurs the wrath of a known bully, who beats her for not attending his birthday party. A monk puts an end to the fighting and yet demands to know why no one bothered to defend Janette. Janette really begins to question her place in the church and whether or not she really belongs there.
In truth, I don’t think she does.
I find some severe fault with the Harry Potter books for not going into further detail about Harry being abused by his relatives and whether or not he used some form of escapist fantasy to cope with his situation. (or maybe his adventures in Hogwarts was all in his head, but that’s a different story.) Also, Harry seems to shake off the abuse and keep going like it never happened, but Janette suffers from depression that stems from the intimidation that the other kids inflict on her.
That’s all for now, but I still have the rest of the chapter to finish, so I’ll be back tomorrow!
