Day 4 of NaNoWriMo

Sorry this is so late in the day, but the blasted time change threw me off my game!

Anyway, I am now getting to the main parts of the story: the band and the bullies. Case in point: Oriana divides her time between a private academy and a public high school and at the high school, she reveals that she had survived a school shooting that left 100 people dead and many more too psychologically damaged to return. (foreshadowing, perhaps?)

Also, she has some serious gripes about not being able to come up with a design for the band that she and Maura are trying to put together.

And as for the bullies, Jennifer, Nancy, Oriana, and Maura have to deal with two of the cruelest girls in the school; their names are Davina Castaneda and Shawnee Wenlock. Both of their parents used their African-American heritage to make money, albeit dishonestly. The two girls not only taunt the Fab Four and countless other students, but they won’t do their homework and disrupt the class with their awful behavoir. The principal of the school refuses to expel the girls because he fears the potential backlash from the African-American community.

Jennifer does her own share of acting out as well, when she chases out the class genius and clashes with a student who defends her. (which proves that the main character isn’t always good at all)

Anyway, I’m in the middle of chapter 2 (I hope to finish by tonight) and Jennifer and Nancy are currently dealing with their father’s issues. Jennifer’s father wants her to quit the glee club and get serious about her education and Nancy isn’t allowed to talk to her father because of his homosexual relationship. At the same time, Maura and Oriana decide to recruit Jennifer and Nancy to join them.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the next part, ON TIME!!!
